LEPER KING TERRACE

This massive terrace, named after the 15th century sculpture that was discovered on top, stands more or less independent of the other building that surround the Royal Square of Angkor Thom. Like the Elephant Terrace it has certain dating problem. It probably dates to the reign of Jayavarman VIII and was part of significant alterations made to the royal palace during his reign, including the extension of the Elephant Terrace with the Bapuon entrance gopura. After a partial collapse, its surface area was extended and the wall entirely rebuilt, although the former sculptures were left intact within the new embankment.
